Public Art Masterclass: Preparing and Presenting an Artwork Concept

This Masterclass is the first of a three-part series, which will take place over 2015 aimed at assisting artists interested in participating, or already practicing, in public art. Each part of the series explores one of three major stages of completing a public art project; Preparing and Presenting an Artwork Concept, Contracting and Design Documentation, and Fabrication and Installation. Participants will learn the ins-and-outs of public art projects and leave each Masterclass more informed and ready to take on their own project.

The first Masterclass, Preparing and Presenting an Artwork Concept, is comprised of three sessions, which will be facilitated by experienced Art Consultant Maggie Baxter who will walk the participants through how to develop a thorough Expression of Interest (EOI) in response to an artist brief as well as preparing and delivering an effective professional concept. In session one, participants will attend a site visit and information on how to tackle the Artwork Brief. During session two participants will pitch their concepts in a formal presentation session to an expert panel. Participants will receive formal written feedback from the panel and participate in a peer review process.
