Graeme Rowley - Chair
Graeme Rowley is Executive Director, Operations for the Fortescue Metals Group; a position he took up after many years with Rio Tinto and Hamersley Iron. His experience in the resources sector is unparalleled, and includes directorships at the Dampier Port Authority, PIlbara Development Commission and the WA State Government's Technical Advisory Council. Graeme has an abiding fascination for the visual arts and has been looking at, buying and enjoying art, particularly painting, for as long as he can remember. Board member from 2007
Anthony Hasluck - Deputy Chair
Anthony Hasluck is Managing Director of Clarity Communications, one of Perth's largest commercial creative companies. The company's team of 25 consultants provide public relations, graphic design and internet services for a range of State and national clients, particularly large corporations. Anthony's daily involvement in the widespread creation and application of design services has given him a deep interest in all aspects of the visual arts and the commercial interests and value of creative people. Bob Poolman - Treasurer
With a practice specialising in taxation accounting, Bob Poolman's relationship with the Arts has been wide and varied throughout the years, assisting and advising arts organisations. He was an Inaugural Board Member of the Claremont School of Arts Foundation; Inaugural Trustee of PICA, Inaugural Chairman of Chrissie Parrott Dance Collective and for many years has been the Principal Seminar speaker for Artsource. Board member since 2003
Fleur Schell
Fleur Schell is well known to many here and abroad as an accomplished ceramic artist. She lives and works in North Fremantle where she has established the SODA International Ceramic Residency and Studios. Fleur trained at Curtin University in Western Australia and achieved First Class Honours in ceramics at the Hobart School of Art in Tasmania. Fleur is an infectiously good teacher of all ages and brings to Artsource her passion and energy for developing and connecting artists. Appointed board member in 2009.
David Doepel
David Doepel is the Director of the Research Institute for Resource Technology at
Murdoch University. David has previously served as a Principal Policy Adviser to the Hon. Alan Carpenter Premier of Western Australia and as Regional Director for the Americas, for the Western Australian Trade and Investment Office. He has served on numerous peer review panels evaluating Small Business Innovation Grants and holds degrees from Murdoch University, Melbourne College of Divinity and Boston University. A powerful advocate for Western Australian technology, creativity and innovation, David brings to Artsource his wealth of knowledge and drive for progress. Appointed board member in 2009.
Geoffrey Drake-Brockman
Geoffrey holds a BSc from UWA and a MA in Visual Arts from Curtin University. Geoffrey has been exhibiting for some 20 years and has received significant awards and commissions over that time. Geoffrey’s background in computer science has been a crucial influence in the development of his art practice. His recent works involve interactive digital systems that control lasers and robotics. These works challenge notions of social reality by implicating the viewer in a creative dialogue with “machine-other”. Geoffrey is currently undertaking public art projects whilst continuing to exhibit his work in a gallery context. Geoffrey’s career has seen him working and exhibiting in Western Australia as well as in other states of Australia and internationally. Appointed board member in 2010.
Mary Cowley
Mary Cowley is the Director Community Partnership for the Department of Indigenous Affairs, working on projects such as Reconciliation Action Plans across State Government and Local Government, PALS project, and the Substantive Equality within the department. Mary has been intimately involved in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities for well over 30 years – both professionally and personally. Mary was born in Broome, raised in Derby and is firmly connected to Aboriginal peoples from Bardi, Worrora and Ngarinyin Country. This includes the Mowanjum artists, many of whom are family members. Mary is keen to see Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists have the same access to opportunities in the wider arts sphere, as all other non-Indigenous artists. Appointed board member in 2010. |
