CLIENT
BRIEF:

Shire of Busselton is formulating a ‘Local Planning Strategy’ leading to a new Town Planning scheme over a 3 – 5 year time frame. The Local Planning Strategy will be developed to provide long term strategic planning framework for future development of the Shire of Busselton over the next 15 – 20 years. The overall aim of this project brief is to build on the relevant recommendations of the Shire’s existing Cultural Plan to develop a tool to be used as a land use planning layer (Local Cultural Planning Strategy), which informs existing and additional cultural sites, infrastructure, experiences and procedure. The Shire was looking for an innovative approach, which incorporated cultural mapping and planning into Landuse planning processes and utlises a high level of community engagement and stakeholder consultation.

ARTSOURCE APPROACH:

Artsource joined with Planner Tim Shingles and Community Engagement Consultant Natalie Venosi to provide survey of cultural assets, conduct an audit of public art and other cultural projects, investigate key cultural sites, identify themes and key sites for cultural expression and provide input into a future strategy planning for culture. The Strategy is currently before Council for review and adoption.
