ARTISTS:

Minaxi May, Olga Cironis, Rima Zabaneh and local artists tbc.

TIMEFRAME:

2009 - 2010

CLIENT BRIEF:

Marquee Park is potentially the most significant public open space development in South Hedland. The public art for Marquee Park can include iconic large scale works combined with more discrete, integrated works that engage, delight, stimulate, educate, surprise and intrigue. There are a number of opportunities for art interventions at the proposed Marquee Park, from surface paving design, water pipes and sound installations to dynamic kinetic sculptures. The project with its inclusion of unique artworks provides a wonderful opportunity for Western Australian artists presenting a prospect of involvement in the creation of an exceptional place.

ARTSOURCE
APPROACH:

After careful consideration of the timing, location and nature of the venture we recommended a collaborative, team approach including local Indigenous artist contribution. It is an approach we recommend for ventures with the potential to involve a number of artists working on the same site, at the same time, in a range of art forms and for projects in regional Western Australia. It offers a cost effective and cohesive approach to the community, the client and the artists. Artsource invited a team of talented artist’s with specialist skills appropriate to expanding the potential of the artwork for this site, to deliver innovation and distinction to this venture. The artist team will be developing concepts and designs for a range of elements through to February 2010.
