Employment Agency: Stats & History
Between 2002 and the end of 2006, the Agency filtered over 1,000 projects valued at over $27 million. The Artsource Employment Agency now represents over 530 artists on our artists database, and has built an advocacy image library of 7,000 images.
The industry of public art in particular
has grown and matured in WA in recent years, with the
commission of some exciting and even daring projects
being undertaken. Sound and lighting works now stand
beside traditional figurative bronzes and mosaics as
legitimate expressions.
The State Government’s Percent
for Art Scheme, initiated in 1993, has not only provided
enormous scope for WA artists, it has led the way in
demonstrating to authorities, developers and architects
that there is extraordinary value in the commissioning
of art for public places. WA is now blessed with a significant
number of artists whose capacity for undertaking large
scale and big budget works is unparalleled in Australia.
