Stitched and Bound 2010

The Western Australian Quilters’ Association (WAQA) invites WA residents to enter the stitched and bound 2010 exhibition of contemporary quilts. This will be the eighth in a series of juried exhibitions to show the range of innovative and original quilts by WA artists and to raise awareness of the craft of quilting in its contemporary form.

Since its inception in 1995 this series of contemporary quilt exhibitions has attracted entries from over 120 textile workers from all parts of Western Australia and has become one of the leading contemporary quilt exhibitions in Australia. The exhibition in 2010 will be in the high profile Heathcote Museum and Gallery providing excellent gallery space for hanging both large and small textile artworks.

The quilt must consist of two distinct layers (predominantly fiber or fabric like material), stitched together throughout the piece and possess the basic structural properties of a quilt. The upper size limit for quilts is 300 cm wide by 220 cm high.

Lethbridge art prize for small-scale works

Description The Lethbridge 10 000 is an exciting new art prize open to national and international artists for small-scale artworks. The judging criteria will be based on three equally evaluated criteria of creativity, originality and skill.

Entrants may submit paintings, drawings and 2D artworks up to 60cm in any direction (not including frame). Initially five high-quality identical colour photographs of the entered painting - in its entirety - must be forwarded to Metro Gallery with the official entry form for pre-selection. Description Off The Wall is searching for Australia’s next top artists!!!

Off The Wall is a national competition where ten artists will be selected from applications by a panel of industry experts.

Selected artists will be given the chance to exhibit their work at Melbourne’s largest annual art fair and enjoy being in the spotlight, gaining attention from curators, galleries, media and collectors while gaining exposure to over 15,000 art buying public.

75% of selected artists are picked up by commercial galleries.

The selected works are professionally curated and installed in this feature, dedicated to the promotion of emerging art.

Examples of selected artist’s work appear on our website, and in a full colour catalogue, generously donated by Art Almanac.

Applicants for Art Melbourne must be unrepresented in the state of Victoria, and all mediums and age groups are eligible.
