About the Studios: The studios are located on the top floor of the Gunnery building. They can be accessed by lift during the daytime and by stairs 24 hours a day. All studios are separately keyed and have natural light, good ventilation, hot/cold running water and basic furniture. Floors are covered with rubber matting to reduce noise and the walls are plasterboard backed by plywood. The residential studios are suitable for a single artist or a couple and consist of a large room and sleeping area, a kitchenette and a small bathroom.

Application Process: Applications are assessed by a panel of artists and art industry professionals. There are no specific outcomes or objectives demanded of the artist during this residency. Artists can set their own objectives and outline it in the application form. The panel will be looking for objectives that cannot be achieved from the artist’s home base.

Eligibility and selection criteria are as follows:

  • Applications are open to professional practicing visual artists who are WA residents
  • Selection is based on artistic excellence and potential for development
  • Applicants must be members of Artsource
