Artsource has had a long-term vision to expand our Residencies Program so that we can offer an abundance of residencies which are artist inspired and designed, which are broad and unlimited in their conception and which develop your practice in whatever form that takes.

Artsource Residency application deadline 30 June annually
In 2008 Artsource established the Residency Fund with generous support from a number of individual and corporate philanthropists. We are proud to present the second year of this innovative fund in 2010.
Artsource welcomes applications for an artist-initiated residency for up to $20,000.
Residency outcomes are entirely up to the artist.
They may include but are not limited to:
• Getting you and your work out there building gallery relationships, networking, promoting work, securing commissions, exhibiting
• Finding a mentor, a peer or an expert to play with an artistic partnership or mentorship, an opportunity for the development of technique
• Seeing whats out there exploration and research in other places
• Joining a formal structure, academic or otherwise conferences, retreats, course of study, existing residency opportunities
Applicants must meet the general eligibility requirements and be Western Australian visual artists.

Basel and Artspace Residencies - application deadline 30 June annually
Artsource manages two residencies for Western Australian artists:
• Basel, Switzerland for six months each year (in partnership with the Christoph-Merien Foundation, Switzerland)
• Artspace, Sydney for three months each year (in partnership with Artspace, Sydney)
These residencies include a grant, plus free residential and studio accommodation. (For full information, please go to the specific residency on this site Basel or Artspace
Fremantle Residency Old Customs House
The Old Customs House residency provides artists with a unique professional development opportunity in the heart of Fremantle, Western Australia. Available to international, interstate, and local artists, as well as arts administrators. Click here for more information.
Regional Residencies Western Australia
Artsource can connect artists to a number of residencies throughout regional Western Australia. These are aimed at giving artists the chance to enrich their own art practice while sharing it with a new community. An ability and desire to interact with the local community is a prerequisite, however other outcomes for the residencies are kept to a minimum. Click here for more information.

The Artsource Residency Fund is our first ever public appeal. The aim is to raise $2 million to achieve the dream of providing 12 talented Western Australian artists with travel residencies every year for ten years.
Your opportunity to contribute to the long term cultural identity of Western Australia As a vital step in enhancing the visual culture of your State, Artsource has established an artist’s Residency Fund. Over the coming ten years, the Fund will assist our most talented emerging and established artists to travel the world – to research, learn and apply their experiences to the development of their art practice.
With your support we can achieve the dream of providing 12 talented Western Australian artists with travel residencies every year for ten years.
- 100% of your valued donation will be directed to the residency fund there will be no management fees
