| RESIDENCies - WEST AUSTRALIAN
Artsource manages a number of residencies
throughout Western Australia, mostly in country WA.
All of the residencies provide artists with
the chance to take a break from their usual routine and to
soak up the riches of another community.
In negotiation with the hosting communities,
specific requirements and formal outcomes for the residencies
are kept to a minimum so that visiting artists can focus on
their own artwork. Generally, WA regional communities are
looking for interaction, inspiration and connection with visiting
artists. If your residency application is successful, please
be aware that socialising with the local community is a prerequisite.
The regional communities provide free accommodation
and studio space. Some communities have an exhibition space
available and will offer you the option to hold an exhibition
either during or after the residency.
Artsource is working towards generating funds
to provide a living allowance for artists and assistance with
travel, however at this stage, none of the residencies include
any financial support.
You can nominate your preferred dates and length of stay.
This can range from 2 weeks to a maximum of 6 months.
There is no set closing date
Applications will be accepted anytime
Outcomes will be advised within 4 weeks
You can apply for more than one residency
in the same application.
- Applications are open to professional practicing visual
artists who are WA residents
- Selection is based on artistic excellence and potential
for development
- Evidence of good match between artist and host
- Applicants must be members of artsource
