Studios: Blinco Street studios

The Blinco Street studios opened in September 2006 - our first commercial studio venture. Artsource leases just over 200sqm in a mixed use warehouse that is approximately 1000sqm. In addition to our studios, it includes two residential spaces, 3 separately leased spaces – currently to a photographer, an animator and a dance instructor - and plans are underway to establish a café in the building.

We have seven studios, nine artists (a couple of shared spaces); six of the nine artists are under 26 years of age; and the range of media includes painting, ceramics, printmaking, graffiti art, multi media and electronic art.

These studios are not subsidised. Artsource has taken on a commercial lease with the owner and given the same lease conditions to the artists as artsource holds with the landlord - 2 years plus an option for a further 2 years. However, artists can leave the studios by giving 2 months notice, and artsource will offer the space to another artist. Studio sizes range from approx 20 sqm - 50 sqm and rent ranges from $42 - $100 per week. Rents are reviewed annually and increases are kept to a minimum.
