Biography

Julie Fearns-Pheasant is a figurative artist/illustrator and educator with an artistic career that has spanned over thirty years. She has had several solo shows and participated in numerous joint exhibitions and artists’ collectives and community based art trails and projects. Working in several methods and techniques, her works are figurative with themes related to body image, human relationships and the self. Fearns-Pheasant completed a Masters in Cross Disciplinary Arts and Design in 2015, and has won several awards, including a tally of five gold medals when she represented Australia in the International Abilympics over a span of six years. An educator for over 20 years, who worked in secondary, primary (PEAC) and now university sessional, she teaches a select group of young, gifted students in her studio space. FULL CV AVAILABLE

Artist Statement

A career of themes dedicated to body image, human relationships with the fictional self and identity. I observe. Visual narratives about division, internal struggles and relationships with people around us. In our modern society, people sit at their separate tables battling with exclusion, loneliness, feelings of challenge. Recently exploring Isolation.
