A quick glance at a map of Australia is enough to see the vast area covered by the state of Western Australia. Accessing this beautiful land can be a daunting prospect for international artists – so the WA Residency Network aims to make it a little easier!
The network can connect artists to a number of residencies throughout regional Western Australia, giving artists the chance to enrich their own art practice while sharing it with a new community.
An ability and desire to interact with the local community is important, however, other outcomes for the residencies are kept to a minimum. Each residency has its own parameters and application processes. Contact each residency program directly for more information.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
Applications are open to professional practising visual artists around the world.
Selection is based on artistic merit and potential for development.
The application needs to show evidence of a good match between the artist and host.
Connecting and socialising with the local community is required – through workshops, artist talks, exhibitions, or other artistic interactions.
