Biography

Mark Thompson completed the Certificate 3 in Art and Design at Fremantle tafe in 1999. He has worked as a fabricator, machinist, radiographer and gardener. These experiences have formed his work as a practicing artist and over the years his main interest of exploration has become the extension of material and technique. Through skilfully working intently with materials he is able to give voice to otherwise unheard objects. Recently he has submitted work for exhibit in Perth, Melville, Fremantle and Rockingham. In 2016 he worked with Guy Ben Ary and Nathan Thompson on the Cellf project and again in 2019 on their Bricolage project. In 2021 his work “Whale“ won the major prize at Castaways Sculpture Awards in Rockingham.
