Biography
Melissa is a multidisciplinary artist based in the Perth Hills. Her practice is deeply rooted in nature, drawing inspiration from the native flora and fauna that surround her. Working primarily with encaustic painting, she creates layered, textured artworks that explore themes of ecology, decay, and renewal. Being an apiarist informs her choice of medium and underscores her commitment to environmental sustainability,
Melissa's work has been exhibited in various galleries and exhibitions, including Winning the 2023 Melville arts Wireless hill theme award and her solo exhibition Reclaimed at Ellenbrook Arts Centre, where she delved into the cycles of decay and renewal. She also participates in community events like the Mundaring Hills Open Studios, opening her studio to the public and conducting workshops to share her techniques and passion for encaustic art.
