Biography

Amanda Shelsher's career spans over 20 years. B.A. Visual Arts, Curtin University and Graduate Dp of Education, Curtin University, National and international exhibitions including 60 group shows and 20 solo exhibitions. Collections include NGA, CAnberra. The Gold Coast City Art Gallery, Queensland, The Royal Perth Hospital, La Trobe University, Manly Art Gallery and Museum, Sydney. the NAB, Melbourne. Rockhampton Art Gallery QLD, St John of Good Hospital Murdoch. City of Perth and Wanneroo Art Collection. Featured at SOFA Chicago for 4 years and Collect at V & A Museum, London. She was the invited artist at the 18th Fubon Art Fair, Taipei and appeared with the Scion Art space, Los Angeles. Commissioned in 2016 by the City of South Perth to create 3 bronze 2m high swan feathers titled Rsonance at the Mends St Jetty.

Artist Statement

My sculptures celebrate the intracacies of human nature. They look for an understanding of self and the world around us. My work draws inspiration from my experiences of motherhood and the life cycles of nature by using plants and motifs from the natural world as metaphors for life.
