Biography

Working on paper using pen and ink, Cate’s work is expressive &responsive. A former Special Art Scholarship student at Applecross Senior High School and now living back in Australia, Cate has continued to explore the arts studying Printing & Graphic Art, attending Artist Engagement and Consultations at the Art Gallery of WA and summer school in Florence, Italy. Cate is the author of the highly successful art book 'Fremantle City of Colour: an artist's celebration of the port city’, which she researched, designed and illustrated. A lover of art books Cate’s interactive art book ‘Passages’, was located at the New York city’s Brooklyn Art Library which was the world’s largest collection of sketchbooks until a recent fire closed the library. In 2023 she has been exhibiting in Western Australia, Victoria, Barcelona, Spain.

Art is about our humanity - and inhumanity. My work explores the dichotomy of human experience: the joys and pain, the beauty and disharmony.
