Biography

New Zealand born (1975), Jacinda attended Otago Fine Art School graduating in 1997 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. Since then she travelled extensively practicing her art. In 2008 Jacinda was successfully granted a 5 year residency at Artsource in Fremantle. Currently she works independently at her studio in the heart of Fremantle and is represented by Linton and Kay Galleries, Perth. Jacinda has been on many art residences including being selected to represent the City Of Perth in China’s Sister City Chengdu. My preferred medium is oil paint. This is because of the intensity of colour and light that I can achieve through numerous layers and glazes. I begin with thin washes of colour, followed by a process of building up of more opaque layers to reflect what is beneath. Through this process, there is a continual removal and addition of medium until I come to a place of contentment.

Artist Statement

Her process of glazing creates a depth and inner glow within the work. Jacinda draws us in to windows of imagination, reflection and personal space. These ambiguous landscapes provide an opportunity to dream, be in the moment, connect and belong.
