Tomoko Yamada is a Japanese born, fibre artist, based in Broome Western Australia.
Tomoko’s current work practice involves diverse installation art works including intricate combinations of weaving, stitching, twisting, braiding and crochet. Her knowledge and techniques are effected (inspired) by her cultural enviroment in Japan. The materials include many types of fibres, yarns, fabrics, tubing, strings and cords all sourced from the diverse communities around Broome. With titles such as… “Continuation”, “over and over”, “Reincarnation”, “still motion” and “Circulation”, Tomoko’s works evolve over a period of time and as installations can be presented in a different way according to the space available.
