Karina Buckingham

Biography

Art has always been important to Karina; at school, during her Marketing career and whilst raising her three children. She continually developed her skills, enjoying part time art courses during this time, culminating in a Fine Art Degree at Curtin University. After graduating, Karina volunteered for Fine Art at Hale, becoming Curator for 2016/17, and launched her business Karina Buckingham Artist mid 2018. Her first major exhibitions 'Biophilia:inside and out' and 'The Wonder of Trees' established Karina's work with local collectors, successfully selling her art at Open Studio events, in group shows and online. Being an invited artist in the Rottnest Foundation's inaugural exhibition and a selected finalist at the Perth Royal Show Salon were highlights of 2019. Karina also tutors creative amateurs in oil painting techniques and specialises in large scale commissions for private homes.

Artist Statement

My art is informed by the restorative colours of Western Australia's parks and coastline, and celebrates the essence of the paint itself. I aim to create a depth to my landscapes, often with a focal point in the distance; leading you into a place filled with familiarity and contentment.
