Gera Woltjer

Biography

Gera Woltjer is a multi-award winning artist originally from the Netherlands who is currently based in Perth, Western Australia. Her process- based artistic practice could be described as being on the edge of art and design. A recurring theme in her work is the conflict between the rigid control of structure and the uncontrollable fluidity of the natural form. Gera develops her artistic practice through her utilization of media such as video, photography, printmaking and installations. Gera’s artworks can be found in Artbank, the State Library of Queensland’s Artists' Book Collection, the Geraldton-Greenough Art Collection, the Durack Institute of Technology Art Collection, and private collections in Western Australia and the Netherlands.

Artist Statement

My artistic practice focuses on exploring the materiality of my chosen medium, aiming to observe and articulate aspects of the human condition, identity, and the complexity of patterns that occur naturally in the world around us.
