Jennifer Sulaj

Biography

Jennifer Sulaj is an Australian-Albanian Artist-Art Therapist. Jennifer left the fashion industry in Melbourne in 1993 and moved to Dunsborough where she began her artistic journey. She studied art at Busselton TAFE and Edith Cowan University at Bunbury and at Mount Lawley. Since graduating with her Bachelor of Visual Arts, Jennifer has exhibited in Perth and Melbourne in group and solo exhibitions. She also teaches abstract painting at Trinity School for seniors and private clients. Jennifer exhibits her art at the Artisan Gallery in Fremantle. Jennifer was selected as a semi finalist for the Dough Moran National Portrait Prize in 2013. In 2015 she graduated as an Art Therapist from the Ikon Institute with an Advanced Diploma of Art Therapy. Since graduating, Jennifer has worked as an Art Therapist at Carinya Nursing Home, Cancer Foundation and the Red Cross, The Marian Centre

Coeur Bleur I was inspired to create this whilst doing 'life drawing' with a group of fellow artists. The drawings are mono prints and were created with the 'Automatic Drawing' technique.

Artist Statement

The influence of Jennifer's art is 'Automatic Drawing', a process that allows her to take risks, trust her intuition and brings excitement to her art. This process gives Jennifer the perfect opportunity to free herself from traditional ways of working, and to take a fresh approach to develop her own style
