  • Client: Henry Schapper Bequest
  • Stakeholders and partners: Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes, Willcox Architects
  • Role of Artsource: Art Consultants
  • Artist: Damien Butler
  • Outcome: National search for design excellence as a gift to the Bridgetown community
  • Artwork budget: $105,500 (Stage 1)
  • Completion date: 1 April 2013

Stage 1: As part of a bequest, Artsource was nominated to act as art consultants overseeing a national open tender process. Sydney artist, Damien Butler’s concept, Kaleidoscope  incorporates the use of locally sourced Jarrah (working with local wood artist, Glen Holst.) Between the WOODEN posts, Butler used cleverly manipulated mirrored metal to capture, highlight or contrast with the very site specific natural, unique environment of Bridgetown. Individuals will experience the work differently from their own perspective.

Stage 2: The remaining bequest monies was spent on a community focussed project and targeted South West artists.
